Nominate your Road Safety Hero
Do you know a Road Safety Hero? Someone who is passionate about road safety and has gone above and beyond to make a difference. Then we want to celebrate their work during Road Safety Week. If you know someone who deserves recognition, we would love to hear from you.
Road Safety Hero Award
Details of the 2024 Award nomination process will be available in early 2024.
The Yellow Ribbon Road Safety Alliance presented the second annual Road Safety Hero Award during Road Safety Week 2023.
Launched in 2022, this award recognises and celebrates an individual for their contribution to road safety in Aotearoa.
The winner of the 2023 Award is Chris Horrocks.
The inaugural winner of the award in 2022 was Sterling Maxwell, a Youth Representative on the Board of Trustees at SADD/Kaitiaki o Ara. Read more about Sterling's work here.
Road Safety Heroes recognised online
Brake is looking to highlight a range of Road Safety Heroes throughout Road Safety Week on our website and social media pages.
From emergency services personnel to health professionals, transport engineers to road workers, community campaigners to school road patrol teams, we'd love to share what they do and why they're Heroes during Road Safety Week.
How do I nominate someone?
You can nominate someone for the Award, online coverage, or both, through the form linked below. We just need a bit of information about them, what they do, and why you think they’re a Road Safety Hero.
Thank you to everyone who nominated heroes for 2023. You can still nominate people to be recognised online, and we will highlight different heroes throughout the year. However, nominations for the Road Safety Hero Award are now closed.
